There are so many different forms creativity takes, and EMMS strives to serve a wide variety of members’ talent areas.
We’re planning on starting with four foundational Shops that represent our areas of expertise—Wood Shop, Metal Shop, Fabric Shop, and Digital Realization Shop. We have a comprehensive suite of equipment for these shops now, and we’re planning on adding more to flush them out further. Check out the equipment lists below each of these Shops for more details of what you can expect.
As we expand, though, we want to serve your needs. What is your favorite medium for creation? We have brainstormed a list of additional Shops we’re considering—check it out and then take our Survey at the bottom of the page to let us know if any of these sound interesting, or if you have a different Shop idea you’d like to see.

More Potential Shops
We’re considering a number of additional Shops, too. Take a look at these ideas and let us know if you’d like to see them come to life at EMMS, or if you have other suggestions we haven’t considered yet.

Forge and Foundry Shop
Create everything from custom knives to wrought iron trellises in our Forge, and pour custom castings in our Foundry that you can then machine in the Metal Shop.

Jewelry Shop
Working delicate metal, setting sparkling gems, and threading unique beads are some of the things you’ll be able to do in our future Jewelry Shop.

Paint Shop
Finishing a product can transform it from a raw to a sumptuous state. Our Paint Shop will offer a dust-free, well-ventilated paint booth for all your finishing needs.

Robotics Shop
Want to create a widget as a toy or an aid to make your daily life more efficient? We’re considering a Robotics Shop for detailed soldering and assembly.
Pottery Shop
Throw clay down on a pottery wheel and fire it up in a kiln in our future Pottery Shop.
Composite Shop
Create your own custom shapes with hand layups of fiber and epoxy composites—everything from a canoe to guitar picks to drones—or combine epoxy and live edge wood for amazing mixed media creations. Your imagination is the limit for what you can do in our future Composite Shop.

Stained Glass Shop
Create intricate stained glass windows and lamp shapes or mosaic inlays in our future Stained Glass Shop.

Workspace Shop
Power tools are good and all, but at some point, you need to sit down at a nice, large work bench for final tuning and assembly. Or maybe your craft never sees power tools, and you just need some surface area to spread out over so you don’t accidentally get glue on the kitchen table.

Supply Shop
While members will generally provide their own materials, we aim to provide a small Supply Shop with key consumables, to save you an emergency trip to the hardware store halfway through your glue-up.

Service Shop
Need something done but not interested in or able to do it yourself? Our staff is available for services, too. Services are open to the public, and members get a discount.
